Acceptable Technology Use Policy

Acceptable Technology Use Policy

What is an acceptable use policy?

An Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is an important document which governs students’ use of the internet at school and covers a wide range of issues surrounding the rights, responsibilities and privileges – as well as sanctions – connected with computer use.

An acceptable use policy (AUP) outlines, in writing, how a school or district expects its community members to behave with technology. A typical AUP has a section where students and parents sign the document, in acknowledgement that they are aware of students' restrictions to network access and releasing the school district of responsibility for students who choose to break those restrictions.
